NBLA 2018: The deal is closed!

We are happy to announce that this year's Nordic Business Law Academy by Roschier, NBLA, has been successfully closed! This was the third NBLA season since the launch of the program in 2016.

The NBLA 2018 was kicked off in January, and a total of four sessions were arranged during the spring, in which 26 law students from universities in Sweden and Finland participated. The program was brought to an end on 5 April when the transaction was signed and closed.

The NBLA is built around an M&A case study covering a full transaction cycle, and this year the students were responsible for the sale and purchase of a fictitious international group of companies engaged in the production and sales of robotic lawnmowers and automated garden machinery. In their roles as bidder candidates (industrial and private equity sponsors), seller and financing parties, the students advised on legal and tactical matters in the controlled auction process. The goals of the NBLA are to give the students a platform for the future and insight into the real-life work at a corporate law firm, provide them with an understanding of teamwork in a professional context, and demonstrate the importance of building long-term client relationships and how to utilize business know-how and legal expertise. We also look forward to welcoming many of this year’s participants back to Roschier to continue their careers with us.

“The NBLA is an important recruitment platform for Roschier and each year a number of the participants are offered associate or trainee positions at the firm. We are impressed by the students’ talent and the way they work together to solve the challenge presented to them. The goals of the NBLA are to give the students a Nordic platform to learn about business law in a way that will benefit their future careers and to enable them to grow their professional network of lawyers and students in Sweden and Finland. We believe that we have succeeded in achieving these goals.” says Björn Winström, the Partner responsible for the program.

A big thank you to all those who have been involved – and for those interested in the next season: stay tuned! The application process for the NBLA 2019 will begin in October. Make sure you follow us in social media (Roschier Sverige or Roschier Finland) to be notified of the application period along with other career opportunities.
