Seasonal donations that provide hope and happiness

Roschier continues its annual seasonal tradition of donating funds to charities supporting childhood cancer treatment and research.

This year, Roschier’s Christmas donations are channeled through the Association of Friends of the University Children’s hospitals (Lastenklinikoiden Kummit ry) in Finland and The Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund (Barncancerfonden Stockholm Gotland) in Sweden.

Roschier is a long-term cooperation partner of Lastenklinikoiden Kummit ry, the organization supporting the five Finnish university children’s hospitals. Over the years, our seasonal donations have helped the organization acquire e.g. incubators for postnatal care. The funds donated by Roschier this year are allocated to development and research as well as to improving the comfort of young patients during their hospital stay. In recent years, the association has also devoted greater attention to the mental health of children and young people.

In Sweden, for many years now Roschier has supported Barncancerfonden Stockholm Gotland through their Supersnöret initiative. Supersnöret – världens viktigaste snöre is an initiative designed to support children undergoing cancer treatment. Each child who is diagnosed with cancer has the opportunity to create his or her own unique string of beads, where each bead represents different steps in the treatment. As some aspects of the treatment may be difficult to comprehend, the string of beads helps the child to understand what the treatment involves and to explain it to friends, grandparents, teachers, etc. In addition to Supersnöret, we also support the organization in providing welcome packages to children newly admitted for cancer treatment.

Another highly cherished seasonal tradition is the Christmas festivities for young patients and their families that we host – this year at the New Children’s Hospital in Helsinki and (for some years now) at Nya Karolinska in Stockholm. To us, visiting the hospitals before Christmas is a very concrete way of bringing joy and Christmas spirit.

Roschier also actively supports a range of other charities and educational initiatives, and provides pro bono legal assistance to various organizations and initiatives that aim to make the world a better place, especially for children.
