Roschier’s tax team top ranked in World Tax 2020 ranking
Our Tax & Structuring team, led by partners Mika Ohtonen and Ossi Haapaniemi, has been top ranked by the recently published International Tax Review’s World Tax 2020.
Roschier’s tax team was ranked Tier 1 in the categories Tax controversy and Transactional tax. The team was also highly regarded in the categories General corporate tax (Tier 2) and Indirect tax (Tier 3).
“We are happy that our clients and peers value us highly and we are very proud to be ranked as one of the best tax firms in Finland by one of the most influential, global tax ranking publications,” says Mika Ohtonen, Partner and Head of Roschier’s Tax & Structuring team. Ohtonen, together with Ossi Haapaniemi, were recognized as highly regarded experts in the field of Tax controversy – the category where most of the ranked individuals in Finland were listed.
“Over the last 7-8 years, Roschier has been involved in tens of tax disputes and we have managed to save several hundred million euro in claimed taxes, tax increases and penalty interest for our clients. Therefore, being ranked as leaders in this field did not come as a big surprise” says Ohtonen. “It is rewarding, too, that our recent strengthening of the tax team has been well reflected in the rankings,” says Haapaniemi.
Roschier’s recruitments include Merja Raunio, one of Finland’s leading transfer pricing experts, as well as experienced VAT specialist Eero Männistö, who has had busy days advising clients in various aspects of VAT since the day he joined the firm.
