Insights|June 12, 2024

The longest and most exciting offshore race in the Nordics takes place on the Baltic Sea again this summer. This year the race starts in Helsinki on 27 July. Established in 2022, Roschier will proudly sponsor the race for the second time. The race is a part of a major international race series, that attracts notable sponsors such as Rolex.

Helsinki, rich with maritime heritage, is eagerly anticipating the event, which celebrates the Baltic Sea. Supported by Finland’s leading yacht and racing organizations, the race is expertly organized by the prestigious Royal Ocean Racing Club.

The demanding 635-nautical-mile offshore race is a thrilling challenge for sailors and has already become a significant event in the sailing world. Participants compete for the Baltic Trophy, awarded for the best corrected time under IRC rules.

Scheduled at a time of year when there is almost 20 hours of daylight, the race offers a unique experience. Sailors will face a variety of wind conditions and have several strategic routes to choose from around the island of Gotland, enhancing both the challenge and appeal of the race.

This year the race will again include some well-known teams and vessels, such as Arto Linnervuo’s DSS foil-equipped Inifiniti 52 Tulikettu and Xtra Staerk, Per Roman’s JPK 1180 Garm, Christian Zugel’s Volvo 70 Tschuss 2. Niklas Zennström’s CF520 Ran is also expected to be on the start line.

As Roschier’s sponsorship extends to the second year, it reflects our commitment to the sport and the environmental health of the Baltic Sea. In cooperation with Keep the Archipelago Tidy and The John Nurminen Foundation, we will also host a shore-cleaning event in Helsinki to highlight the importance of ocean conservation. This initiative is part of Roschier’s larger race event, making it not only a competition but also a cause for environmental awareness.

In preparation for the race, we would like to invite you to drop by at Tulikettu in the Marina Bay race village in Katajanokka, Helsinki on 24 July 17.00–20.00.

During the event you can meet some of the team and hear more about the challenge ahead. We will also provide some light snacks and drinks. Please feel free to bring your family and friends!
