Frida Wall’s secret to success? Trusting oneself and the process
This is a story of unwavering independence. Born and raised in Stockholm, the middle child between two brothers, she grew up in a loving, close-knit family. That family dynamic helped her develop a strong independent streak early on. “From a young age I wanted to be independent and pave my own way. This strong sense of self reliance has been a positive influence throughout my life,” she says.
Meet Frida Wall. Her journey is defined by a deep-rooted work ethic and a constant desire to learn and grow. She began her career at just 15, working in a café, and has since gained experience across industries as varied as IT, real estate, sales, and finance. “My passion has always been in administration. The assistant profession, regardless of the industry, requires attention to detail, stress resistance, a high service oriented mindset, and self motivation,” she explains.
My passion has always been in administration. The assistant profession, regardless of the industry, requires attention to detail, stress resistance, a high service oriented mindset, and self motivation.
“Whenever I stepped into a new industry, I never let my lack of experience for the specific industry hold me back. Instead, I focused on understanding it and approached each role with an open mind, confident in my ability to learn and adapt,” she adds.
Embracing new beginnings
The willingness to learn and adapt proved useful in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic caused her to lose her job at the time. “The uncertainty was daunting,” she says, “But I was determined to find a new opportunity and hold on to hope.” She spent many hours on job portals seeking relevant and interesting opportunities and applying for the best ones before landing a role as an office manager and personal assistant at an IT company.
“I was there for almost two years, and I learned a lot. During this time, I got a lot of recruiters approaching me for one job or another, but nothing that spoke to me or made me feel like my skills would evolve,” she explains. “But then I got an email from a recruiter in Stockholm. They wanted to consider me for a role at a law firm in Stockholm. The work culture and atmosphere appealed to me, and the timing was just right. The firm was Roschier.”
This was a big turning point in Frida’s career. She joined Roschier and became an Executive Legal Assistant in the firm. Frida proved to be a quick study, and her persistence paid off.
“My new team had positive things to say about how smoothly the transition went,” she explains. “They obviously noticed a new face, but the quality of service remained unchanged. That was a big win for me. Knowing that I made a strong impression and was already leading the charge just a few weeks into the role was something I was truly proud of.”
The path of continuous learning
So, what does being an Executive Legal Assistant at Roschier involve? Frida describes her role as being that of a troubleshooter. “My work involves providing comprehensive support to the lawyers in my team and ensuring smooth operations,” she explains. “I ensure things keep moving by managing correspondence, calendars, events, invoicing, travelling arrangements, organizing matters, and always providing high-quality administrative support.”
The role is by no means an easy one and requires Frida to constantly stay on top of different processes and technologies while collaborating with multiple teams. That she manages to do so is her proudest achievement working at Roschier.
“We work with advanced systems here, as we would like to always be a step ahead. This also means that I must constantly work on keeping my skills updated,” says Frida. “I participate in several training programs and collaborate with various teams, including the assistant recruitment team, the intro team where new employees are acquainted with our various programs, and the events team, to name a few. These experiences are invaluable when managing multiple tasks simultaneously.”
Trusting oneself and the environment
Frida says she has been fortunate to receive support from many individuals, including mentors, colleagues, friends, and family. “I think our assistant team is an amazing group of supportive, smart and ambitious people. The culture of the firm is welcoming, and it is a pleasure to work with such talented and dedicated colleagues,” she explains. She particularly appreciates the generosity of the firm towards its employees, which contributes to a positive and supportive work environment.
“It’s important to acknowledge and appreciate your own hard work and achievements. Giving yourself credit will boost your self-confidence and motivation.”
That said, she is mindful of the need to recognize one’s efforts. “It’s important to acknowledge and appreciate your own hard work and achievements. Giving yourself credit will boost your self-confidence and motivation,” she adds. As she looked to the future, we asked her what advice she would offer her younger self if she had the chance. “Staying open-minded is key. Take your time and remember that everything happens for a reason. Trust yourself and the process,” says Frida confidently.
