Mikko Alkio is a Helsinki-based Partner focusing on complex competition law and regulatory issues. He has extensive experience of advising clients on, e.g., foreign direct investment screenings, state aid, and industry-specific regulatory matters in areas such as healthcare, media, energy and infrastructure, telecoms, and gaming. In addition, Mikko focuses on research and innovation-related projects and processes.

He is recognized as one of the leading experts in the field of regulated industries in Finland.

Before rejoining Roschier in 2022, Mikko headed the EU, Competition & Regulatory practice at another leading law firm for ten years. Prior to that, he has held advisory positions in the Ministry of Economy, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Finnish EU Commissioner’s cabinet.

Mikko has authored several books and publications on EU and competition law, state aid regulation and sector-specific topics.

Mikko is recognized as one of the leading experts in Finland in EU and Competition law by international publications such as Chambers Europe, The Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal.
