Roschier partners up with the University of Helsinki for the Roschier Energy Lectures in Helsinki and Vaasa

In September 2017, Roschier will arrange a lecture series on energy law in cooperation with the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Law.

The series will host prominent speakers, including Professor of Energy Law Kim Talus (University of Helsinki), Partner Alexander Janes (Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe) and Roschier's experts Toni Siimes, Laura Huomo, Samuli Tarkiainen and Miikka Konttinen, and will be kicked-off with a seminar focusing on the lawyer's role in ensuring project viability in large scale energy transactions, to be held on 28/29 September in Helsinki and Vaasa respectively.

"We are very excited to collaborate with the University of Helsinki on such a topical area as energy law. Energy projects are long-term investments which, taken together, have a significant effect on the overall development of our society. We look forward to interesting discussions with students and representatives from the industry on this key issue. As our Chairman of the Board, Rainer Hilli has stated previously that we believe that universities and the business sector can increase their collaboration in a variety of areas to support each other, and this is one example of such cooperation," comments Toni Siimes, partner responsible for the project at Roschier.

The lectures will be offered as a part of the university program, and the student participants will be entitled to study credits. "This interaction between students and practitioners exposes students to areas of practice which have traditionally not been part of their studies. Energy law is an increasingly significant area of practice both in Europe and internationally. We look forward to a long-lasting cooperation with Roschier in this field ", comments Kim Talus, Professor of Energy Law at the University of Helsinki.

The Roschier Energy Lectures series will also be available to representatives from the business community by invitation. For more information, please contact Toni Siimes.
