The arrival of tax partner Ossi Haapaniemi further enhances the Nordic law firm's leading market position in relation to tax and structuring advice.
Roschier announces the appointment of Ossi Haapaniemi as a Partner to its Tax & Structuring team in Helsinki. Ranked Band 1 by Chambers and other leading ranking publications, Ossi Haapaniemi is a highly regarded advisor in tax disputes, ruling processes and high-end corporate tax matters, including complex cross-border transactions. He has in-depth knowledge of corporate taxation, especially relating to financial instruments, corporate finance transactions and incentive schemes. Haapaniemi is a frequent speaker at seminars, and he has authored numerous articles and books on taxation. He joins Roschier from Hannes Snellman, where he had headed its Tax practice since 2004.
At Roschier, Ossi Haapaniemi will work closely with Partner Mika Ohtonen in further broadening the firm's tax and structuring offering toward clients needing advice in complex M&A transactions and tax litigation.
"We combine practical, solution-oriented tax advice with business-minded corporate and M&A work and believe our client offering is unparalleled in the market as it includes tax and structuring advice as an inherent part of high-end transactions. Ossi is an important addition to our tax team, and his competence is a perfect fit for us. As a successful tax litigator, he will add strength to our capabilities regarding complex tax disputes in a time when they are growing in number in the region," says Mika Ohtonen, Head of Roschier's Tax & Structuring practice.
The appointment follows the recent hiring of employment partner Anu Waaralinna, another high-profile lateral hire to Roschier, and the appointments earlier this year of leading technology practitioner Arto Linnervuo and disputes practitioner Rikard Wikström.
"The recent appointments demonstrate Roschier's continuous commitment to having the best competence available for our clients and our capacity to act as their strategic business partner in today's ever-changing business environment," comments Roschier Managing Partner Fredrik Rydin. "With Ossi Haapaniemi on board, I am convinced that we will have by far the strongest and most experienced tax team in Finland."
