New times call for new approaches. Since the recommendations on remote working due to COVID-19 continue to apply and social distancing will be the new normal for still some time, we have chosen to transform the Associate, Summer and Research Trainee programs for the summer of 2020 into an online cross-border Distance Trainee Program.

The Distance Trainee Program, arranged cross-border with participants from both Finland and Sweden, gives the participants an outstanding opportunity to build and broaden their business law understanding. During the program they will get to meet and learn from Roschier’s experienced practitioners, which is an excellent way to become acquainted with our practice areas and the work we do for our clients across borders. The program also offers a great platform for building a network by meeting with practitioners and fellow participants from both countries.

In brief, the program offers a six-week period of remote learning divided into a four-week extensive Roschier University curriculum and a two-week essay writing period. During the program, you will have access to a tutor (a Roschier Buddy) and an essay sparring person who will support you where needed.

The four-week training program comprises daily online seminars and lectures with Roschier experts as well as interactive elements such as discussions with peer participants and Roschier Buddies. The curriculum focuses on five main areas:

  • Introduction to Roschier: introduction to who we are, our people, values and the business law context;
  • Client work at Roschier:  lectures on how we become trusted advisors to our clients, client case studies and practice area introductions;
  • Legal knowledge: a selection of lecture series aiming at deepening the participants knowledge within legal areas such as company law, transactions and  IP & technology;
  • The Roschier Journey: Roschier experts share their stories about experiences and learnings from working at a business law firm;
  • Professional skills: lectures in e.g. legal English, contract drafting and negotiation skills.

After the training program follows a two-week period of writing your individual essay on a topic related to business law. During the writing process you get sparring from an experienced practitioner within the area.

All participants who have completed the program will receive a diploma.

The Distance Trainee Program is an exclusive learning platform, combining business law knowledge, Roschier insights, cross-border networking and social activities. It is a unique offering and a true joint effort, where approximately 80 experts from different areas at Roschier are involved in the planning and execution of the program.

Since we have chosen to transform the Associate, Summer and Research Trainee programs for the summer of 2020, the positions for the program have already been filled.
